Louisa Wendorff/Devin Dawson

I’m a huge Taylor Swift fan so this week’s cover video is a “Blank Space/Style” mash-up cover video by Louisa Wendorff and Devin Dawson. They are both based in Nashville, TN right now. I saw this video when Taylor Swift retweeted it on twitter and since that retweet the video has gotten over 15 million views! Both of their voices blend so perfectly on this cover. Plus, it gives the two songs such a different vibe. The original version by Taylor is very pop and beat driven so this version takes it down to a more acoustic chill vibe, which I love. I love when artists totally change their version of a song to make it sounds like their own. Like I said in my last post about the Gardiner Sisters, I love when songs have simple instrumentation. This version is just vocals, acoustic guitar, bass, and drums. Devin doesn’t have much on his youtube channel but Louisa has a couple of videos posted on her channel and her videos are shot really well. In addition to her cover videos, she has a couple of videos when she visited New York city when she played a gig there. From these videos, I can see that she has a very chill personality, which is awesome. I’d love to meet and hang out with her one day. She seems really cool. She released an EP last summer called “Arrow”. From listening to a couple of her songs, I can hear that she has a singer-songwriter vibe in her music. She definitely can write and sing her own music, she’s really talented. So go check her music out! I'll post both their social media links down below!

Gardiner Sisters

Since I'm a huge Paramore fan, I wanted to share this amazing cover of "Ain't It Fun" by the Gardiner Sisters. Last summer, I was on YouTube and came across this cover video and instantly became a fan. They all have beautiful voices and when they started harmonizing, it was amazing. Plus, who doesn’t love girls who sing and play music? I also love how raw and natural the performance is. No fancy video edits, just raw and acoustic. For me, if you can play a song simply on an acoustic guitar or piano and just sing, that’s all you need. Just keep it simple and I love how simple their version was.

Also, it’s very hard to top Paramore’s lead vocalist Hayley Williams because she is such an amazing singer but the Gardiner Sisters did it. I’ve seen Paramore perform live many times through the past couple of years and they are just so amazing live. If you’ve never seen them live, you have to at least once in your life.

So back to the Gardiner sisters, they are from North Carolina. Occasionally they have other siblings in their music and videos but the main three sisters are Hailey, Allie, and Mandi. They post videos almost every week or every other week on YouTube, which is awesome because after watching their videos, I see that they all are beautiful, talented, and have amazing personalities. Hopefully one day, I can meet them and play music and jam with them. That would be awesome. They recently released a new EP called “Better”. So that’s the Gardiner Sisters! Go check them out!

Music Is Everything

(photo via: androidsigma.com)

First of all, I want to say thank you for checking out my blog! My goal with this blog is to share new artists and new music with you. Anything that I like and any new artist and new music that I find interesting will be posted. Every week I’ll be sharing new artists from any genre. I’m pretty sure that anytime we find new music, what’s the first thing we want to do? We want to tell someone right? So this will be my way of doing that. Along with new music, I will post links about that specific artist and how to find their music and any other information about them. I’ll most likely be posting about them more than once so keep checking back often. I will write about how I found them and why I decided to share their music with you. Also, another thing we can do on this blog is you can let me know how you find new music. Let me know and I’ll post it on here also! Let’s spread our love of music on here because without music, I’m sure most of us would be lost. There’s no other thing like music. Music is the one thing where we can all come together and express and feel our emotions. I don’t know about you but when I’ve needed music, music has and will always continue to be there for me. Music is everything. So let’s do this. On to the next post…
